Between the recent past and the next while - a pause, a few moments of respite to relax into the dreamy notions of joyous times.
It’s a brief stop, between back then and those days we’ve behind us now, those days from before yesterday - today is a pause between storms, or a new beginning, or or a prelude to better days.
Happiness is a state that is hard to measure - tiny degrees of change can be deliciously exciting, and degrees of difficulty are …. difficulty … there are few words to describe difficulty that fit as well as difficulty, so it would be a case of cognitive dissonance to not expect more difficulty around curves, corners, over cliffs and at the bottom of some deep blue sea, you see?
My days ahead are not less certain than the days of the recent past, but the days of the future are widely uncertain, because for me - for everyone, we’ve never lived them before. Nobody has.
The earth moved.
It’s always moving - and nothing seems to be slowing down, but once in a while in life, we happen upon an oasis. We get to stay there for a while, to be restored and re-energized. But not for long, because the next comes and the next load of the ore-of-life that must be mined, processed, and shipped along its path.
Life’s journey and challenges are never-ending until they’re over, and then there is nothing to write home about …
Until then, time to keep working at everything - every day. There is no space between today and tomorrow and no time to lol around at the oasis - it’s not a place to live, it’s a place to rest, restore, and move along to the destination, wherever that is.
We can’t go backward, the world will spin in reverse for us - all things moving forward will move forward and the term, “Be careful what you wish for …” is serious advice.
Till tomorrow then …
