Soaked with meaning
~ National Indigenous Peoples Day, 2nd day of summer, wettest day of the year so far and somehow, that feels exactly right.
Heavy thoughts, they can fall as rain, then flow as rivers in search of truth en-route to a sea far away, in this land whose motto is A Mari usque ad Mare (latin) for From sea to sea.
It’s National Indigenous Peoples Day amid this summer season’s very wet welcome.
It rained all night. Still raining. The wind isn’t gentle or steady - it’s light, then not, intermittently persistent.
Chilly enough to dampen any warm-weekend hopes, reminder this is summer storm season, and in Calgary, that brings nervous memories of swollen rivers and two of those ‘once in a hundred years’ floods in recent years, so sustained rain warnings are nature’s contribution to good news for agricultures, annoyance for campers and golfers, and nervous memories for many of us here …
