If you read my weekly poem posting TODAY ~ you might appreciate what it was like for me, remembering and re-reading a poem I wrote eleven years ago. It is easy to view TODAY as a lament to lost love(s) or the serenade of a newfound one - but that was not the source of the inspiration. As the concluding lines in that poem explain, it was about waking up to a ‘today’.
So, let me tell you what gave rise to the poem below - TOMORROW, which I wrote today. With that fresh read as a thread earlier today before medications, coffee, newspapers, breakfast or any other thoughts had time to invade - I took a pad of sticky notes and pen from my pocket and wrote the eight bits you see below. I suggest you read the poem first - then the material below, and then re-read the poem. OK, the ‘after material’ and explanation is written for my friend Ray who asked recently for an explanation of how I typically move from idea/inspiration to poem ready to be read by others.
I hope you enjoy this extra posting, and I hope Ray enjoys it too.
