Fatalists will tell you there is nothing you can do … that whatever good or bad things might happen have already been determined.
Optimists will say “whatever I want it to be”.
Realists balance ‘what we can control’ v. ‘what we can’t control.’

So, what can we do?
What could we do about that each morning when we wake up?
What kind of day will today be?
I know what I want to accomplish today.
Every day is an opportunity to do something new, something old, or something I didn’t finish yesterday.
It’s been a slow start so it will be a long/late finish …

I publish this Musings column daily and post poems, short stories and other ‘plus/+’ content weekly. Many of you enjoy this content for free, and I truly appreciate your readership. Paid subscriptions are modest: $8 monthly (26¢ a day), $72 annually (20¢ a day), or you can donate any amount. Paid subscribers get extra content, but everyone is welcome - your presence matters. But if you haven't yet become a paid subscriber, I'd be grateful if you'd consider it. Thank you for reading Musings, and thanks to Substack for supporting writers like me. Warm regards, Mark

Definitely part of the Realist Crowd, Mark. What we can control is the only thing I focus on. What we get stressed out over when we worry about what we can't control can be real, but doesn't move anything forward, including our own state of well-being. cheers, Rick
