Some days, I try to live eight days in seven and pretend four hours of sleep is fine.
The calendar cheers.
My body does not.
If time management is about cramming more in, sleep management is about admitting we are not machines. Which one I’ve been practicing is evident to most people I know.
Sleep is not a rounding error.
Time management asks, “How do I squeeze more in?”
Sleep management asks, “What deserves my best, and what only ever gets my leftovers?”
When fatigue is normal, judgment becomes optional, but handicapped.
Confidence gets us through tough days.
Confidence translates to resilience, and that gets us through tougher days.
All that and a good bowl of soup will get us through an empty evening or the toughest of days …

Running my calendar is tricky, but sleep is more fuel than reward … always.


I've always been envious of dogs in how quickly they can drop off to sleep and then how soundly they stay asleep. If only I were one!
